The judge responsible for the Malaya investigation, Óscar Pérez, has ordered more of Juan Antonio Roca’s assets to be seized to help cover any damages awarded when the case eventually goes to trial.

Pérez’s predecessor, Miguel Ángel Torres, had ordered the alleged leader of the Malaya ring of corruption to put up 1,000 million euros, which evidently was not forthcoming. Therefore earlier this month Óscar Pérez froze 11 bank accounts in Roca’s name that had already been blocked as part of the investigation, as well as several accounts in his son’s name.

The ruling also impounds the works of art previously confiscated during searches of properties linked to Roca, as well as five estates, among them Roca’s main residence, and around 20 vehicles.
