Nerja footballers have been left in the altogether after thieves broke into the Enrique López Cuenca stadium and helped themselves to all of the Recreativo team’s kit, as well as training bibs, 20 footballs and boxes of drinks. The break-in took place either last Saturday or Sunday night. “They haven’t just stolen our sports equipment but also the time, hard work and hopes of a group of keen young players”, said the club president and treasurer on Tuesday. The club is hopeful that the Guardia Civil will recover some of the stolen goods, which are thought to be worth some 7,000 euros. “After all where are they going to go with shirts with our logo on?”, asked the treasurer.
