Iraqi businessman found battered to death in a Marbella chalet
The body is removed from the scene. / JOSELE-LANZA
The body of an Iraqi constructor was found yesterday inside a chalet which was being built on the Golden Mile in Marbella.
At 11 a.m. some workers discovered the body of the businessman in a room that was covered in blood. According to sources close to the case he had been hit several times on the head with a blunt object, which was probably an iron bar or a stick. However other sources told Efe that the Iraqi man, who was 68 years old, had stab wounds. The exact cause of death will be confirmed following the autopsy which is being carried out today in the Instituto de Medicina Legal (IML) in Malaga city's Ciudad de la Justicia (City of Justice) buildings.
The body of the victim was discovered inside a chalet built on 1,535 square metre plot in Calle Margarita in La Carolina development. Although the police have not yet confirmed the victim's identity, sources close to the case have said that he was the owner of a small construction company.

The house in Calle Margarita was nearly finished and there are signs outside advertising it for sale.
This has been the second violent death in Marbella this year following the kidnapping and death of businessman Fernando Moreno Espada.
