Personnel from the Consortium have surveyed the affected areas of the city and have estimated that most of the compensation will go towards repairing the affected industrial warehouses and buildings including the main bus station and the Municipal Transport Company (EMT) bus garages, where the tornado caused damage to 40 buses as well as the garages. The Consortium has also estimated that around 740 personal claims for damage to homes and vehicles will be entitled to compensation from the body.
Some homes in the San Andrés neighbourhood are currently uninhabitable following the tornado and the Mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre, has announced that he will communicate the situation to Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero so that he can inform Congress of the situation and of the people who "need help" because they don't have personal insurance policies. The Junta de Andalucía said yesterday that help will come from them and a meeting is planned today to communicate in exactly what form that help will come.
