According to the Spanish National Association of Time Share Companies (ANETC-OTE), the firm Global Vacations promised clients discounts on holiday services, such as hotels and car rental, for a period of 50 years. In exchange they asked for a sum of money, which in some cases was as much as 25,000 euros, to cover membership of their holiday discount club.
The ANETC-OTE, which reported the apparent fraud to the authorities, claimed that the holiday firm, which has two offices in Mijas, used “very aggressive” and even “confusing” sales techniques to attract clients, often on busy Costa del Sol beaches.
Global Vacations have told SUR that the allegations are unfounded and that the case stems from complaints made by four clients who only placed a deposit and never became full members of the holiday club. The company went on to say that they do give their customers their money back and have plenty of happy members.
