Progress is being made in the investigations into the kidnapping and violent death of Fernando Moreno Espada, the Marbella businessman who went missing last Wednesday and was found the next day in a reservoir hut on the Istán road. National Police officers arrested one suspect in connection with the case yesterday and several more have been taken in today.
According to sources close to the case it is still to be determined to what degree the person arrested yesterday was involved in the case.
Last night police officers carried out various searches related to the disappearance of Fernando Moreno and more arrests may be imminent.
Fernando's family reported his disappearance to the police and then received calls from kidnappers demanding 1,000,000 euros for his release. The last call they received was to tell them that the victim had died and he was in the reservoir hut. Fernando was later found gagged and with his hands tied. The autopsy revealed that he had died as a result of suffocation and injuries to his body which rules out the previous suspicion that his death was down to natural causes.
