Children aged between six and eight gave a piano recital of classical and children's music at the Interactive Music Museum in Malaga on Friday evening. The II MIMA Children's Competition is held in two stages, and next Friday another five young musicians will perform in front of a panel of judges which includes a music teacher and the director of the museum.

The children's performances astounded the audience, but when asked to give details about their musical career, some of the childen needed help from their parents in answering the judges' questions. "Mum, when did I start playing the piano?" asked eight-year-old Cristóbal. He says that his favourite composer is Beethoven, and that when he grows up he wants to be a footballer, but as his mother says, "playing an instrument is a good skill to have."

The repertoire included music from Verdi's 'La Traviata' and 'Love Story', and the young participants were given a diploma, a CD of their performance and a book to take home with them.
