Former Mayor of Marbella, Julián Muñoz and two others have been ordered to pay back 277,000 euros to the Town Hall.

The national auditors (Tribunal de Cuentas) have found that Muñoz, along with former GIL councillor Esteban Guzmán and lawyer Modesto Perodia, were responsible for losses caused to the municipal firm Eventos 2000 S.L. as members of its board of administrators.

An initial report referring to the years 2000 and 2001 had revealed irregularities in the firm’s accounts leading to losses of 805,000 euros. The Town Hall had then called for the three former administrators to be ordered to pay 964,000 euros (the previous sum plus interest) however the Tribunal has only found them responsible for 277,000.
