A 24-year-old man was detained by local police and accused of sexual assault after a waitress at a ‘chiringuito’ in La Malagueta beach complained that he had fondled her bottom.
She had seen the man hanging around the establishment and called the police. When they arrived she said that the man had gone inside, cornered her and touched her backside and she then made her complaint of assault.
The man denied the charges and resisted arrest. Both officers received minor injuries in the ensuing struggle.
