A 28-year-old motorbike rider died in a crash on the A-7 near the Santa Bárbara industrial estate in Malaga on Tuesday morning. His death marks the first road fatality in Malaga in 2009. Witnesses say that the victim had been travelling in the right hand lane on kilometre 235 at 7.50 a.m.when a light coloured Seat Ibiza crashed into the man from behind. The motorbike rider then swerved into the left lane where he was run over by two other vehicles, the drivers of which did not have time to react and were affected by poor visibility. The driver of the car who caused the accident fled the scene. It is hoped that the autopsy will determine whether the man died in the crash or seconds after being run over. The Guardia Civil is asking anyone who has any information to call 062 to help officers track down the hit-and-run driver of the Seat Ibiza.
