Temptation got the better of a courier who was arrested in Malaga for not delivering a winning lottery ticket to the state lottery organisation. Two friends of the thief were also arrested for helping the man cash the 3,500-euro prize.

The National Police in Malaga had been asked to investigate the disappearance of the lottery ticket after the lucky winner took the ticket to a bank to cash it. The bank paid the money into the winner's account and kept hold of the ticket to send it on to the lottery organisation via courier service. However the courier decided to keep the ticket himself and got a friend to take it to another bank and cash it and hand the money over to the third suspect so that the operation couldn't be traced. However the fact that the same ticket was cashed twice in different banks, and that these businesses subsequently tried to claim the money back from the lottery organisation set alarm bells ringing and sealed the suspects' fate.
